Detailed Narrative Description of Project | The aim of the project was to increase the productivity of dairy cattle and the quality of milk on the beneficiary farms.The project supports farm improvements in relation to feed production and feed management: Animal husbandry and farm management, including:
Collection, refrigeration and handling of milk. The scope of the Assignment of Component 2 project in Issyk-Kul region includes the following activities: advanced training of farmers, provision of high-quality consultations, organization of training seminars, demonstration of improved technologies and methods of dairy farming. The project covers small dairy farms with a number of cows ranging from 1-5 heads, which deliver milk to local processing factories. Within the framework of the project, 4,000 farmers from five districts (Ak-Sui, Zheti-Oguz, Tonsky, Issyk-Kul and Tyup districts) of Issyk-Kul region trained. About 160 training groups formed across the villages for comprehensive training on the basics of feed production and dairy farming. In the course of the project, a special demonstration farms (DFs) there were developed to demonstrate improved practices and methods for managing dairy farm, cow maintenance and feeding, feed production, bovine reproduction, animal health management and livestock automation. The content of the trainings was based on the interactive training approach of the Field School of Farmers (PFS. Typical models of a mini-dairy farm for keeping cattle developed. Thematic events and master classes dedicated to Farmer's Day have been additionally held as a part of the project. The training procedures included the organization of special trips to the most successful dairy farms among the project participants held to demonstrate the experiences of farms in raising and breeding cattle, preparing feed, compiling balanced diets, maintaining farms. During the project implementation, all requirements for recruitment of training groups and criteria for demonstration farms building were considered. As a result of the training sessions, the farmers improved their knowledge and capacity, which affected the productivity of farmers and households, their financial sustainability, improved the quality of life and adaptation to market conditions. |
Detailed Narrative Description of Services provided | Caiconsulting, together with TES-Center, will organize and conduct trainings for the project beneficiaries (farmers) on animal husbandry practices, including improving the milk production of cows, identifying existing milk collection points and establishing links with processing companies. Within the framework of the project, the Consultant will be responsible for the implementation of the following activities: Social mobilization and formation of training groups. To conduct comprehensive training in the basics of feed production and dairy farming in the villages of the Issyk-Kul region, during the implementation of the project, 160 training groups consisting of 4,000 farmers should be formed and trained. Development of training modules, organization and conduct of training events for training groups. The Consultant develops an updated package of training modules adapted to the conditions of the Issyk-Kul region, create a list of training topics, a plan and schedule for training and submit it to the CCP for approval.
