Detailed Narrative Description of Project

Based on the national programmes and other Government initiatives in education and training, the project developed a VET strategy and build educational capacities needed for its implementation in four pilot vocational schools (Astana and Shymkent) and at national level. Complementary to that, the project built capacities of social partners, again at 3 levels (national, regional/oblast and local) in the same localities and regions.

Detailed Narrative Description of Services provided

The project worked with key VET development approaches: lifelong learning, involvement of social partners, participatory ways of work at all levels in the system and between them, communication and co-operation platforms to improve relevance for the labour market (planning and forecasting of the needs), diversification of VET supply and flexibility for responding to changing demand, competence-based approach to innovating VET curricula, related training of teachers and trainers, decentralization and increased school autonomy, and quality assurance.
