The World Health Organization (WHO) initiated a study “Assessing the effectiveness of multi-level interventions and understanding barriers for improving the quality of hospital care for mothers, newborns and children in Kyrgyzstan” as part of the project “Improving the quality of Hospital Care to reduce Maternal, Newborn and Child deaths and accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals for health targets”
WHO signed a contract with CAIConsulting to implement this study. The company's sub-consultant in this project is the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute of post-graduate training and continuous education (KSMICE) named after S.B. Daniyarov.
The study aims to assess the effectiveness of a multilevel intervention within the framework of an ongoing project to improve the quality of maternal, neonatal and paediatric inpatient care and to gain insight into the behavioural and cultural factors influencing the use of evidence-based practice by healthcare professionals delivering paediatric and maternal care in Kyrgyzstan. The study will collect data on indicators of care, experiences of care and behavioural factors. The study will cover hospitals in Chui, Talas, Issyk-Kul, Jalal Abad and Batken oblasts and Bishkek.
In December 2022, WHO held a workshop for the expert team to discuss the research methodology and sampling, identify key indicators and develop research tools.
