In June 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO) held a Semiannual Technical Workshop on the Quality of Service Delivery on MCH (Maternity and Child’s Healthcare).
The CAIConsulting Expert Team who conducted the study on «Assessing the effectiveness of multi-level interventions and understanding the barriers for improving the quality of hospital care for mothers, newborns and children in Kyrgyzstan" presented the following study results:
- Long-term project benefits on the quality of medical care improvement 2012-2014 (results on examination of children’s medical records)
According to the research methodology, the expert team examined a number of children's medical records across 10-selected hospitals participating in the previous Healthcare Quality Improvement Project. The scope of research involved 5 "intervention" and 5 "control" hospitals.
As a result of the study, 1182 medical records were analyzed, in accordance with the following indicators:
- Experience of hospital care arranged by women and parents of hospitalized children
On the ground of research methodology, a series of interviews were conducted among hospitalized women from maternity wards of 9 hospitals and parents of hospitalized children from a pediatric wards of 9 hospitals. All the hospitals are involved in the WHO project to improve the quality of medical care. As a part of the study, 180 respondents from each group were interviewed. The interview comprised questions about the quality of recieved care during the hospitalization period related to experience in applying of medical care standards (communication, respect and dignity, emotional and psychosocial support).
