On July 20-29, in the framework of the project “Rehabilitation of Toktogul HPP. Phase 2, Development of Master Plan in the energy sector for the Kyrgyz Republic”, CAIConsulting in consortium with Italian company CESI conducted training sessions for the employees of the energy companies on two subjects:
The aim of the training session devoted to Energy efficiency and distributed generation was to give a thorough understanding on key renewable energy technologies applicable in KR, i.e. solar PV, wind, small hydropower, potentials and costs. Each technology mentioned above was provided with an overview, applications, costs, integration to the grid, policy and regulation, as well as market trends on a global level.
The second training session: Evaluation techniques for the forecast of load and energy demand, provided attendees with an overview of the main approaches and best practices used for the projection of energy demand at country level, how the load projections are determined. The trainer presented two main approaches: the top-down approach and the bottom-up approach. The training module introduced the Excel-based model for the bottom-up analysis of energy demand in Kyrgyzstan, its data requirements, its calibration to the energy system of Kyrgyzstan, the underlying assumptions and finally, its main outputs including electricity demand and load forecasts for each scenario.
