Detailed Narrative Description of Project

- To undertake a review of the required design standards for the water and sanitation sector.

- To make recommendations based on the review for improved technical design practice for water and wastewater infrastructure

- The establishment of a programme of technical awareness workshops to which the technical designers and contractors should attend - along with students at the university, who are the future engineers and expert

- To establish a database detailing existing SNiPs and SanPin technical standards used by water and sanitation professionals in the Kyrgyz Republic alongside the equivalent/proposed European Union/WHO technical design standards and methods of accessing those documents.

Detailed Narrative Description of Services provided

- Reviewed relevant SNIP and SANPIN standards used in the water and wastewater sector in the Kyrgyz Republic

- Undertake meetings with the relevant state agencies and organisations - such as the State Agency for Construction and Communal Services and design institutes and firms.

- Reviewed design practices and standards applied by the design institutes.

- Prepare a report which analyses all SNIP and SANPIN standards for the water and wastewater sector, highlighting areas in which i) SNIP and SANPIN diverge from

international best practice and standards, for example from the European Union and WHO, and ii) areas in which technical design practices diverge from current practice in civil engineering in the water and wastewater sector.
