Detailed Narrative Description of ProjectThe overall objective of the project was to support the WTO Accession in Kazakhstan by harmonizing Kazakhstan\'s legislation on technical regulation and standardization with the WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade, and with the corresponding EU legislation, and provide support to the Government of Kazakhstan on the most effective implementation of measures in accordance with WTO requirements.
The specific goals of the project were:
Objective 1: To bring the present legal framework on technical regulation and standardization in compliance with the WTO TBT Agreement and corresponding EU legislation;
Objective 2: To Upgrade the professional expertise of the staff of the Committee for Standardization, Kazakhstani Institute for Standardization, Department of WTO, and to build capacity of the Information Centre (enquiry point) under the Committee for Standardization;
Objective 3: To promote cooperation between Kazkahstani and European standards, accreditation, metrology and comformity assessment bodies.
Detailed Narrative Description of Services provided- Identify the senior short-term local expert(s);
- Contract the senior short-term local expert(s) proposed by CAICo and approved by the European Commission, for a total of 30 working days;
- Contract the local office manager after approval of the candidate and conditions by IBF;
- Provide the necessary equipment, within the limits of the project budget (Annex 1 to this Agreement) and after approval by IBF;
- Contribute to the implementation of the project activities covered by the budget for incidental expenditure, such as organising and hosting study tours when required by the project, as agreed in advance by the project Steering Committee.
