An official ceremony of handing over 124 new buses to the municipal enterprise "Bishkek Passenger Transport Enterprise" took place in Bishkek.

The ceremony was organized under the EBRD "Implementation Support for the Bishkek CNG Buses" project. In 2023, a consortium of consulting companies assisted in purchase of 124 buses with a length of 10.5 meters.

The event was attended by Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliev, EBRD Director Aiten Rustamova, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Tatikov and Japanese Ambassador in the Kyrgyz Republic Hideki Goda.

The Bishkek Buses project is seen as a step towards modernization of the transport system. The project implies not only purchase of new buses, but also the reconstruction of repair, production and administrative buildings with a gallery. As part of the project, an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with GPS navigation will be integrated that will significantly increase the efficiency and capacity of the municipal bus company.

It is also known that the buses of 12.5 meters length will be purchased as a part of the same project. The consortium has already started implementation of this process, and procurement will take place this year.
