The UN World Food Program in the Kyrgyz Republic, together with CAIConsulting, held a Seminar to discuss the results of a preliminary feasibility study for the development of microinsurance

On May 26, 2022, the UN World Food Program in the Kyrgyz Republic, together with CAIConsulting, held a Seminar to discuss the results of a preliminary feasibility study for the development of microinsurance in Kyrgyzstan. The study was conducted by a team of experts from WFP and CAIConsulting to assess the demand for insurance among the rural population; assessing the viability of insurance products for small farmers; identifying existing opportunities, approaches, methodologies, available schemes and competencies for microinsurance; mapping existing local factors, market participants and their activities; preparation of a basic set of recommendations that can later be used by both the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and WFP to launch relevant activities and start discussions with potential investors/partners.


The seminar was attended by interested organizations, representatives of microfinance, microcredit companies and associations, program specialists and project experts. The participants of the seminar discussed the main results of the preliminary feasibility study on microfinance, recommendations on possible directions for the development of microinsurance, inclusive insurance in the Kyrgyz Republic; possible insurance products, optimal financial models, mechanisms for the introduction of insurance products in the Kyrgyz Republic.
