 The Garden Day was held in Chechme village of Kadamjai district, Batken region

   The Garden Day, dedicated to improved agricultural technologies for growing fruit crops, was held in Chechme village of Kadamjai district, Batken region on March 10, 2020. The Garden Day was organized by CAIConsulting as part of Component 2 of the Improving Agricultural Productivity and Nutrition Project. The main participants of the Garden Day were farmers from 11 villages of the “Gauyan” Water Users Association (Kadamjay district), who have large areas for garden crops on their farms. The Garden Day in Chechme village was attended by representatives of local governing bodies of the participating villages, representatives of regional WUA support departments, experts, consultants, specialists of the Improving Agricultural Productivity and Nutrition Project and the media, in total over 65 people.

    The main objective of the Garden Day was to demonstrate the results of the applying improved agricultural technology for growing fruit trees in the gardens of farmers who have undergone theoretical and practical training organized by CAIConsulting as part of the Improving Agricultural Productivity and Nutrition Project. Within the framework of the Garden Day, the administration of the “Gauyan” WUA also demonstrated a garden sprayer purchased by the “Gauyan” WUA with the grant funds of the Improving Agricultural Productivity and Nutrition Project. In addition, specialists-agronomists of CAIConsulting held a practical lesson on the correct pruning of fruit trees, preparation of substances for spraying gardens.

   The farmers attending the Garden Day expressed great interest in the practical events held. According to the farmers, the acquired practical skills, correct and timely agro-technical knowledge will help them to significantly increase the yield of fruit crops such as apples, apricots and cherries.
